Resurfacing project on I-70 in KCK will mean overnight lane closures, delays
A resurfacing and pavement marking project will require the closure of lanes and ramps along Interstate 70 in Kansas City, Kan., next week.
Crews will work overnight, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., beginning Monday. The work will affect both directions of I-70 from 18th Street to the Missouri state line.
Here’s what drivers can expect:
• On Monday: Westbound I-70 and I-670 will be reduced to one lane from the Missouri state line to 18th Street.
• On Tuesday: Both directions of I-70 will be reduced to one lane from 18th Street the Missouri state line. Eastbound I-70 will be closed for about two hours for paving work. Traffic will detour during the closure along Interstate 670.
• On Wednesday: Eastbound I-70 will be reduced to one lane from 18th to James streets.
• On Thursday: Eastbound I-70 will be reduced to one lane from the Missouri state line to 18th Street. There will also be varying short-term ramp closures.
• On Friday: Both directions of I-70 will be reduced to one lane from the Missouri state line to 18th Street. Eastbound I-70 will be closed for about two hours for sealing and sawing work. Traffic will detour via I-670 during the closure.
There will also be some lane closures during the day as needed.
