Lenexa woman accused of leaving child home alone
A Lenexa woman is facing a felony charge after allegedly leaving her 23-month-old son home alone.
Prosecutors charged Alejandra Garces, 37, Tuesday in Johnson County District Court with aggravated child endangerment.
Lenexa police discovered the child, who was unharmed, Monday inside a residence in the 13300 block of West 109th Terrace. Someone had reported seeing the mother leave and then seeing the boy standing at a window crying.
According to court documents, officers found a running space heater set on high inside the home, and investigators determined that the mother had intended to be away for up to seven hours.
Police arrested Garces later Monday. A judge set her bond $5,000.
