Attempted murder alleged in Overland Park stabbing
Prosecutors on Tuesday charged a 19-year-old man with the attempted murder of a woman stabbed multiple times Monday in Overland Park.
Richard K. Curtis, who police said was a roommate of the 47-year-old victim, was charged in Johnson County District Court with attempted second-degree murder.
The victim remained hospitalized Tuesday in critical condition with several stab wounds, including one to the neck.
Curtis also is charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The victim called police about 11 a.m. Monday and reported that she had been stabbed at an apartment in the 10200 block of West 81st Terrace, according to Overland Park police.
Officers arrested Curtis at the scene.
During Curtis’ first court appearance Tuesday afternoon, a judge set his bond at $250,000.
