One dead, another injured in an apparent attempted murder-suicide in Kansas City, Kan.

One man is dead and a woman was critically injured in what appears to be an attempted murder-suicide in Kansas City, Kan.

Police received a report of the shooting in the Faith City Christian Center parking lot in the 5100 block of Leavenworth Road about 7:40 a.m., according to Officer Thomas Tomasic, a spokesman for the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department.

The female victim was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The shooting appears to be domestic, Tomasic said.

Police were able to contain the scene of the shooting and reroute traffic to a nearby school.
