Jewish Community Center upgrades security

The Jewish Community Center has announced it is upgrading its security in the wake of the April 13 slayings of three outside the center and the nearby Village Shalom senior living center.

Some steps already are in place and some will be taken in the next few weeks. They include an armed presence during the majority of operating hours.

In addition, a security director will be hired as soon as possible and a security assessment will be conducted.

Those and other upgrades were detaled in an email from Jacob Schreiber, president and CEO of the center.
