Severe weather could be in store this weekend
There is a multi-day risk of severe weather throughout the central and southern plains this weekend that could bring large hail, damaging winds and strong tornadoes to the Kansas City metro.
The National Weather Service says storms may develop over eastern Kansas and western Missouri on Saturday afternoon and night with severe weather expected on Sunday. According to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, the highest threat for a tornado will take place Sunday afternoon.
Severe storms are possible in Missouri on Monday. Several inches of rain are possible.
