Kansas City, Kan., police said Tuesday that two people are in custody in a killing Monday afternoon two blocks from police headquarters.

Officers responding to a report of shots fired about 5:20 p.m. Monday found a man shot to death inside a vehicle that crashed in the 900 block of Minnesota Avenue.

Police said that they hope to release the victim’s identity on Wednesday and that the case is being reviewed by the Wyandotte County district attorney’s office for possible charges.

It is not believed to be related to another shooting Monday night in which four people were injured, according to police. None of the victims in that incident, which was reported about 8:45 p.m. in the 600 block of South 11th Street, suffered life-threatening injuries, police said.

Anyone with information about that incident is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).

On Tuesday, police also released the name of a man found dead Sunday in the 700 block of North 70th Terrace. The death of 36-year-old Willie L. Henderson has not been classified as a homicide, but police said the district attorney’s office is reviewing the case.
