Crossover wreck kills man in the Northland
A 45-year-old Kansas City man died of injuries suffered in a crossover crash in the Northland on Monday.
The wreck occurred about 2:15 p.m. at Northeast 102nd Street and North Woodland Avenue. The victim was southbound when a northbound vehicle crossed over the double yellow lines and hit his vehicle.
The victim had pulled off to the right shoulder in a failed attempt to avoid a collision, police said.
"It looks like he did everything he could to get out of the way," said Sgt. Bill Mahoney.
Police said the other driver clipped a pickup truck after passing illegally on the crest of the hill, which caused him to lose control.
