One arrest made after gunfire, standoff on North Bellefontaine
Authorities rounded up several residents of a house in Kansas City’s northeast area Friday after bystanders reported gunfire.
Employees at a small trucking company showed up for work about 8:45 a.m. and heard gunfire from inside a small home on the east side of the 1100 block of North Bellefontaine Avenue.
At least one bullet came close to the truckers outside, one of the men said.
A Kansas City tactical response team soon arrived, with at least one officer taking a position on the roof of a nearby building. The standoff continued through the morning before police took custody of several residents from inside the home, which is on a small dead-end street just south of the Missouri River.
Later in the day, police said one man was arrested on an investigative hold for assault. He has not been charged.
