Overland Park police seeking pickup driver in attempted child abduction

Overland Park police are looking for the driver of a black pickup after an attempted child abduction Friday morning.

A 14-year-old girl told police was waiting at a bus stop near West 87th Terrace and Nall Avenue when the man told her to get into his truck. The girl refused and said she would call the police. The man drove off.

He is described as white, possibly in his 50s, wearing a white T-shirt with a black logo. He had a bushy black and gray beard and wore wire-rimmed glasses. He was driving a large black pickup, possibly a crew cab, with tinted windows, a trailer hitch and mustard-yellow hubcaps.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS or the Overland Park police at 913-344-8750.
