Todd family of Blue Springs is Jackson County Family of the Year

Randy and Teresa Todd of Blue Springs have been named Family of the Year as part of the annual Jackson County Family Week celebration.

The Todds have cared for foster children since taking in a niece and nephew in 1998.

They became licensed foster parents in 2000. The Todds have two grown children, Stephanie and Charles, and three children living at home. Those three, Cheyenne, Destiny and Daniel, are former foster children with special needs whom the Todds adopted. They also continue to take in other children.

The nomination letter cited the Todds for providing a stable and loving home for their children, even with Randy’s recent health problems. Randy Todd has suffered from foot disease and had one foot amputated in January, Teresa said.

Jackson County Family Week is an annual event encouraging families to spend more time together. It began with the Family of the Year dinner on Tuesday and will run April 20-26.
