Services are set for those killed at Jewish Community Center and Village Shalom
Services and observances in memory of the three Kansas City area residents killed Sunday are scheduled for Thursday and Friday.
A Mass for Teresa “Terri” LaManno begins at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 6415 Holmes St., in Kansas City.
“We want the world to know that she has probably already forgiven this individual,” said Brian Fowler, a family friend.
“She was such a loving person.”
A separate interfaith service is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Jewish Community Center, 5801 W. 115th St., in Overland Park. U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder is scheduled to attend, as is Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback.
Funeral services for William Lewis Corporon and Reat Underwood begin at 3 p.m. Friday at the Church of the Resurrection, 13720 Roe Ave., in Leawood. Area Boy Scouts have been asked to wear their full Class A uniforms. Reat was a Boy Scout.
Several area Jewish youth groups have scheduled a candlelight memorial walk for Friday night.
The event begins with a 6 p.m. service at the Jewish Community Center. At 7 p.m., participants will walk south on Nall Avenue to Village Shalom, 5500 W. 123rd St., and then to an open field near The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah, 12320 Nall Ave.
The walk is open to all, said Matthew Kaplan, an organizer.
Investigation continued Wednesday into the origins of the weapons used in the shootings.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has finished tracing where the alleged shooter got the guns, said Dannette Seward, an agency spokeswoman.
However, she said that “the results of weapons traces are confidential and we don’t release them.”
If F. Glenn Miller Jr., the alleged shooter, acquired one or more guns through a straw purchaser, the government will conduct a criminal investigation, said a U.S. government official, who insisted upon anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter.
