UM System takes another step to stop sexual assaults

University of Missouri System President Tim Wolfe on Wednesday announced the hiring of the National Center for Higher Education Risk Management to assess the sexual assault and mental health resources on the system’s four campuses.

The hiring follows the release of an independent counsel’s investigation of MU’s handling of a report of an alleged rape of a former swimmer who later committed suicide and an executive order by Wolfe mandating that all employees report claims of sexual assault to a school Title IX coordinator.

“We will be examining their analysis and, together with the task force’s recommendations, the findings of the independent counsel and my recent executive order strengthening our Title IX reporting policy, will better be able to foster a campus culture of safety and respect,” Wolfe said in a statement.
