Highway shooting leaves one person dead, another critically injured in KCK

One man has died and another was critically injured after an early morning shooting Monday on a Kansas City, Kan., highway.

The victims drove themselves to a hospital about 3:35 a.m. after they were shot near Interstates 635 and 70.

The shooting happened as the Kansas City area is on heightened alert while police investigate about 20 roadway shootings — at least 12 of them linked — in a month.

But Kansas City, Kan., police said preliminary information suggests that Monday’s shooting was not connected to the others. Police did not identify the victims.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call 816-474-TIPS.
