Abuse alleged in KCK child death

Prosecutors accused a Kansas City, Kan., man Thursday of abusing a 1-year-old boy who later died of his injuries.

They charged DeAndrea J. Goodwin, 21, in Wyandotte County District Court with a felony count of child abuse. He was being held in jail Thursday on a bond of $150,000. Prosecutors said police are continuing to investigate.

The child, who authorities have not identified, was found injured April 6 when police were called to a residence in the 600 block of S. 71st Terrace. The boy was taken to a hospital but later pronounced dead.
