Missouri man convicted of raping 13-year-old Leavenworth child
A Leavenworth County jury convicted a 29-year-old Missouri man Wednesday of raping a 13-year-old child in August 2012.
David Cochran of Peculiar is facing a possible life sentence in the case. He allegedly picked up the victim at 2 a.m. near the child‘s home and drove the child to to a Leavenworth motel where the two had sex. The mother later found text message’s on the child’s phone that prompted her to contact police.
A sentencing hearing is set for June 18.
