The National Football League’s 2014 preseason schedule released Wednesday includes a spotlight game for the Chiefs.

After a home date against the Cincinnati Bengals to open the preseason — the date of which has not been determined — the Chiefs’ second preseason game, at Carolina at 7 p.m. Aug. 17, will be nationally televised on Fox.

The Chiefs will follow that up with a home game against the Minnesota Vikings and former quarterback Matt Cassel and a road game against the Green Bay Packers, which is the team Chiefs general manager John Dorsey left when he was hired by Clark Hunt in January 2013.

The dates of the Chiefs’ regular-season games are to be announced, but the Chiefs already know in addition to their annual home-and-away slate against their AFC West foes, they will also have home games against the Seahawks, Patriots, Jets, Rams and Titans and road games against the 49ers, Cardinals, Dolphins, Steelers and Bills. Last year, the NFL announced its regular-season schedule in mid-April.

The NFL’s preseason will begin Aug. 3 with the annual Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio. This year, the New York Giants will take on the Buffalo Bills at 7 p.m.
