Multi-vehicle crash temporarily closes I-435 near Front Street

A multiple-vehicle crash along Interstate 435 on Kansas City’s east side briefly closed the northbound lanes during Wednesday morning’s rush hour.

The vehicles, which included a tractor-trailer, collided shortly before 7 a.m. near Front Street.

Authorities closed the highway for a while because of debris on the road. Traffic was being diverted off onto U.S. 24.

Two lanes of the highway were reopened about 7:15 a.m., but not before it caused traffic to back up beyond East 23rd Street.
