Kansas man, 79, pleads guilty to child sex crimes

A 79-year-old Baxter Springs, Kan., man on Tuesday pleaded guilty to six counts of sex crimes with three different boys under the age of 14.

Stanley W. Pickering pleaded guilty to one count of criminal sodomy, four counts of indecent liberties with a child and one count of indecent solicitation of a child, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said in a news release.

Two of the counts were charged under Jessica’s Law, which means Pickering can be sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole for 25 years.

The offenses occurred between 2003 and 2011 and in Cherokee County, according to the criminal complaint.

Sentencing is set for June 2.
