Lawrence robber makes getaway in taxi
The question is whether the cabbie got his fare.
Shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday in Lawrence, a lone thief entered the Truity Credit Union, 3400 W. 6th St., demanded cash from a teller and fled with his loot — in a taxi cab.
Lawrence police report that surveillance video shows the taxi was waiting in the parking lot. It left the lot and drove west down 6th Street. Police found the cab driver later and determined he was not complicit in the robbery.
Bank cameras snapped pictures of the robber. Police now seek a light-skinned black man, about 30 years old and 5 feet 10 inches tall. He wore a tan stocking cap, jeans, tennis shoes and a dark hooded sweatshirt.
Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call the Lawrence Police Department at
