Independence man dies from injuries after one-vehicle wreck
A 36-year-old Independence man died Wednesday night after he lost control of his pickup truck on a curve in south Kansas City.
Police were called to the wreck at Martha Truman Road near Blue River Road just before 6 p.m., where William A. Carolus‘s truck had struck a tree. The tree prevented the truck from tumbling down a steep ravine, said police Sgt. Bill Mahoney. Firefighters had to extricate Carolus from the wreckage. Police used a tow truck winch to get the truck back on the road.
Carolus later died at a hospital.
