Man dies in farm well in Cass County

The body of a 72-year-old man was recovered from a well Thursday in rural Cass County.

It was unclear how long the man may have been in the well, which was behind a residence on South Dillon Road, north of Gunn City.

The well was said to be about 30 feet deep with a waterline more than 10 feet below the opening.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Department and the East Lynne and Harrisonville fire departments responded about 5:20 p.m. Thursday to a report of a person possibly in a well. The Jackson County Medical Examiner will determine the case of death.

The man was not identified pending notification of relatives.
