Kansas City warns of scam regarding Municipal Court
Kansas City Municipal Court officials are warning the public about an email scam that falsely makes recipients think they must appear in Municipal Court.
Most recipients of these false notices live out of state and have no case before Municipal Court. Others courts across the country have reported similar incidents. The emails direct recipients to read an attached notice, which contains a computer virus. Recipients are advised not to open the attachment and to delete the email.
Kansas City’s municipal court does not send unsolicited emails containing court papers. All notices regarding municipal court dates are mailed to interested parties via regular mail.
