Man charged in Kansas City bank robbery

A man charged with robbing a Kansas City bank Monday was alleging trying to get money to bond his girlfriend out of jail.

Police arrested Edward Truex Jr., 47, about 30 minutes after the Monday afternoon holdup of the Bank of America branch at 8550 Holmes Road, according to documents filed in federal court in Kansas City.

“Everything you are looking for is on the passenger side of the vehicle,” he allegedly told police.

A BB gun and $1,538 of the $1,558 reportedly taken in the robbery were among items found by police, according to the court documents. Truex later told FBI agents that he committed the robbery because it was the only way he could think of to get his girlfriend out of jail, according to the documents.
