Kansas City child is reportedly injured by a falling TV
For the second time in less than a month, a Kansas City child reportedly was injured by a falling television.
Emergency crews were called about 10 a.m. Wednesday to a residence in the 1700 block of Moten Place. The 18-month-old boy was taken to a hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said he suffered facial fractures, and further testing is being done to assess the extent of the injuries. His mother is being questioned by detectives.
On Oct. 7, an 8-month-old boy was fatally injured by a falling television at a home in the 6700 block of South Benton Street.
The boy was asleep on a blanket in front of the television when the accident occurred, according to police reports. An upside-down plastic bucket was being used as a TV stand, according to the reports.
More than 360 children age 10 or younger were killed by furniture or televisions tipping or falling on them from 2011 through 2013, according to statistics compiled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
