Financial issues on ballots in Jackson and Cass counties

A number of smaller jurisdictions in Jackson and Cass counties have put financial issues on Tuesday’s ballot. A rundown:

Lone Jack:

The city is seeking a half-cent sales tax for law enforcement.

Lake Tapawingo:

Two property tax questions are on the ballot, as is a $2.6 million bond issue to improve water lines and fire hydrants.

Drexel schools:

The district wants to borrow $2 million, without increasing property taxes, to improve energy efficiency, expand the gym, complete kitchen and cafeteria renovations, among other projects.

East Lynne schools:

Voters are being asked to fully eliminate the Proposition C tax rollback, effectively raising the property taxes so the district can retain its preschool program and meet other expenses.

Pleasant Hill:

City voters will be asked to approve $2 million in revenue bonds for the water and sewer system.

Creighton fire district:

A property tax of up to 30 cents on each $100 of assessed property value is being sought for ambulance service.

Western Cass fire district:

The district wants to borrow $850,000 to purchase a pumper truck and equipment.

Dolan West Dolan fire district:

The district wants to raise the property tax levy to 50 cents on each $100 of assessed value. It’s now 30 cents.

Pleasant Hill fire district:
