Sunny, warm Sunday awaits Kansas City area residents this weekend

A day after severe weather swept through the region, cool and cloudy weather will be on tap in the Kansas City area Friday.

Highs are expected to be below normal on Friday and Saturday, climbing to around 50 degrees. Extensive cloud cover is expected to persist through much of Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, Mo.

The best day of the weekend will be Sunday, when highs are expected to climb into the low to middle 70s, although it will be breezy.

No rain is expected through the weekend, although there is a chance of showers late Sunday night and Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

While highs are expected to be in the middle to upper 60s Monday, a front is expected drop temperatures below normal on Tuesday, with highs in the upper 40s to middle 50s.

The next chance for thunderstorms is Wednesday, but it’s too early to determine whether severe weather will be possible, according to the National Weather Service.
