Police arrest man after he threatens girlfriend with samurai sword

A man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after he threatened his girlfriend with a samurai sword and punched his daughter, police said.

The incident was reported at about 3 p.m. Wednesday in the 3900 block of West Second Sreet, Lt. Dan East said. That’s just east of West Street.

A 49-year-old woman reported her 52-year-old boyfriend threatened her with the samurai sword, then cut the face of a 24-year-old man who tried to intervene, East said. The younger man was cut with a pocket knife, not the samurai sword.

The man with the sword then punched his 19-year-old daughter in the face, East said. He was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault and battery in a domestic violence situation.

The suspect had been drinking all morning before the incident, his girlfriend told police.
