Report: Sources say Kansas basketball star Joel Embiid will enter NBA Draft
Joel Embiid, the Kansas Jayhawks' 7-foot freshman center from Cameroon, has made his stay-or-go decision, according to Yahoo.
Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting this morning that sources say the possible No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft will leave Lawrence after one injury-shortened season.
In declaring for the draft, a decision that the Yahoo report states will be formalized with an announcement soon, Embiid, 20, is betting that NBA teams will still look favorably upon his unique skill-set in despite the fact that his only college season was cut short by a stress fracture in his back.
Embiid's apparent decision comes to light on the heels of fellow freshman teammate Wayne Selden Jr.'s announcement that he'll return to school next season and not head to the NBA early.
That leaves KU freshman Andrew Wiggins as the Jayhawks' only remaining question mark, but it's long been assumed he'd stay in college just one year.
Wiggins' announcement that he's NBA bound is considered a mere formality.
The Yahoo report says "Embiid has progressed in settling on agent representation, but no final decision has been made, sources said."
Embiid averaged 11.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.6 blocks for KU this season.
