Independence police seek information on sex offenses
Independence police said they believe more children may have been victimized by a Smithville man now facing multiple sex crime charges in two cases.
Chester R. Oberg Jr., 58, was charged in Jackson County Circuit Court in December with child molestation and two counts of statutory sodomy for incidents that allegedly occurred in Kansas City in 2012.
Last week, prosecutors charged him with statutory rape, child molestation and four counts of statutory sodomy. Those charges stem from incidents alleged to have occurred in Independence involving a different victim.
Independence police on Wednesday asked anyone who may have information about other incidents in the metropolitan area to call the department’s investigations unit at 816-325-7330.
