Police sergeant to be released from hospital after suspected drunken driver T-bones squad car

A Kansas City police sergeant is expected to be released from the hospital Wednesday after suffering minor injuries when a driver T-boned her patrol car earlier in the morning.

The Kansas City Police Department tweeted out a photo of the damaged car, saying it was hit by a suspected drunk driver who allegedly ran a stop sign.

The crash happened about 3:20 a.m. at 57th Street and Troost Avenue.

The officer was headed north on Troost when the driver allegedly ran a stop sign and collided with the squad car.

Police are investigating whether the driver was under the influence, according to media reports.
