Broadway to get center turn lane in downtown KC
Traffic flow should improve on a section of Broadway in downtown Kansas City after crews create a center turn lane Saturday.
The Public Works Department will re-stripe the street between Sixth and Ninth streets to leave one full-time through lane each for northbound and southbound traffic. The outside lanes will also be open to traffic during rush hour.
“As downtown Kansas City’s population has increased in recent years, residents and visitors have experienced intersection delays and parking challenges in the city’s Central Business District,” according to an announcement from city hall. “Public Works’ traffic engineers have identified the planned improvements as a way to improve traffic flow and increase the number of available parking spaces during off-peak hours.”
Broadway will remain open during the re-striping.
