Southbound I-470 shuts down for evidence search

Traffic will be disrupted for the next hour or so on southbound Interstate 470 as investigators search for physical evidence in connection with a shooting Tuesday night.

Lee’s Summit police said officers will have to shut down and slow traffic north of Colbern Road while the search is conducted.

The incident was one of two highway shootings that occurred close to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in eastern Jackson County.

A motorist was hit by a bullet near Interstate 70 and Woods Chapel Road in Blue Springs. The Lee’s Summit incident on I-470 caused no injuries.
