KC firefighters battle 3 blazes within blocks of each other

Authorities were questioning one person Thursday in a series of three fires in vacant houses within blocks of one another on Kansas City’s east side.

All three fires were reported within 10 minutes of one another. No injuries were reported.

Authorites requested investigators from the Kansas City police bomb and arson unit. They were questioning a person of interest seen near one of the houses, said Kansas City Fire Department Battalion Chief James Garrett.

The fires were reported in the 1100 block of Myrtle Avenue, in the 3800 block of East 10th Terrace, and in the 900 block of Cleveland Avenue.
