Erin Andrews and 'that voice' debut on ‘Dancing With the Stars’

Erin Andrews made her debut Monday night as the new co-host of “Dancing With the Stars.” TV critics and her friends loved her. Loyal fans of the show? Not so much.

Andrews replaced Brooke Burke-Charvet who was unceremoniously fired from the show last month, just one of many changes in an apparent attempt to score younger viewers.

Good luck with that.

magazine writes that while the Fox Sports reporter, and former “DWTS” competitor, didn’t stage a coup, Andrews “wasted no time establishing herself.

“Andrews talks with the flat, unhesitant delivery and slanginess of an experienced announcer, and she casually plants herself on the floor with a kind of no-nonsense strength. She is angular and even willowy, but her center of gravity appears to be unshakable. If you covered the Super Bowl, wouldn't you be the same way? How would you survive otherwise?”

But viewers were much more brutal on Twitter, where a recurring theme seemed to be, “Ouch, that voice!”

Some folks thought she was a little intense and loud, something that could be chalked up to first-night jitters.

“While #DWTS' Erin Andrews is more crisp than Brooke she needs to ditch the in-your-face repertorial approach. Calm down,” tweeted ‏@BruceWestbrook.

‏“Wish #Erin Andrews would be voted off DWTS! Don't think I can stand her for whole season. #0 paddle,” tweeted @PhillyMae555.

But come on people, how is she supposed to fix the sound of her voice?

“Was just channel surfing, heard Erin Andrews' voice for about 5 seconds and wanted to stab myself in the ear drum with a spork.”

“Erin Andrews voice could peel paint. I'd rather listen to the piercing sound of a fire alarm with a dead battery.”

“Erin Andrews voice!!!! Can she breathe through her nose? Let just hope she doesn't say "probiotics.”

“My mother would just like to say via my twitter she does not like Erin Andrews on #DWTS and she says her voice is annoying.”

“Erin Andrews' voice = nails on blackboard. Seriously, her delivery is inhuman.”

“Gahh, Erin Andrews voice has to be the most annoying thing EVER!”

“Erin Andrews did a nice job on the interviews, but I want to work with her on her voice. (I'm a voice coach ;)”

Hey ABC, that last tweet is from ‏@Diane_Banks.
