Dozens arrested during St. Patrick’s Day sobriety checkpoint near Westport
Kansas City police working a St. Patrick’s Day sobriety checkpoint arrested 31 people overnight on suspicion drunken driving.
Police stopped 596 vehicles at the checkpoint at 39th Terrace and Southwest Trafficway, just north of the Westport entertainment district, from 11 p.m. Monday to 3 a.m. Tuesday.
Kansas City police conducted the checkpoint in conjunction with the Missouri Highway Patrol and Jackson County Sheriff deputies.
In addition to the alleged drunken driving arrests, police reported seven instances of driving with a suspended or revoked license, two hazardous moving violations, four other traffic violations and two people in possession of marijuana.
