MCC students get discount tuition

To make it easier, and cheaper, for adult students to earn a bachelor’s degree, Metropolitan Community College-Kansas City and Western Governors University Missouri have partnered up.

WGU Chancellor Angie Besendorfer announced Thursday in Kansas City that MCC graduates and staff will be able to apply for free to WGU, a private, non-profit online university. The agreement, which allows for the seamless transfer of community college credits to WGU, also gives MCC grads and staff a 5 percent discount on tuition, which is about $6,000 a year.

“The agreement will make it easier and more affordable for MCC graduates, especially those with work and family obligations, to achieve the goal of a bachelor’s degree,” MCC Chancellor Mark James said in a statement.
