West Bottoms link between Kansas and Missouri to close for six months

An important connection between Missouri and Kansas in the West Bottoms will be closed for six months while work crews rehabilitate the deck and substructure of the James Street bridge.

The bridge spans the Union Pacific Railroad tracks and links 12th Street in Missouri with Central Avenue in Kansas and with downtown Kansas City, Kan.

During construction, eastbound traffic will access 12th Street via a detour from Central Avenue. Westbound traffic will detour via Mulberry Street and Union Avenue.

The bridge work is scheduled to be done by early fall.
