MU apartments where walkway collapsed to be demolished
University of Missouri apartments where a walkway collapsed last month, killing a firefighter, will close at the end of June and be demolished shortly thereafter.
MU Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin on Wednesday announced that residents of the 14-building University Village complex in Columbia will be allowed to terminate leases without financial penalty up until June 30. Maintenance and repair work will continue.
The status of the Student Parent Center child care, which is housed in the complex, has not been decided. Loftin is putting together a committee to look into continuing to offer students day care for their children on campus.
