1-year-old falls from car onto on-ramp in Lee’s Summit
A 1-year-old child apparently received only minor injuries after falling out of a moving car early Sunday night in Lee’s Summit, authorities said.
Emergency personnel responded to the intersection of U.S. 50 and Chipman Road at about 6 p.m. The driver told investigators that the child fell from a rear passenger door while the driver was turning onto an entrance ramp for U.S. 50.
A passing driver stopped and helped the child until emergency crews arrived. While the child was still being evaluated at a hospital Sunday night, doctors considered the injuries to be minor, according to a Lee’s Summit Police statement.
There was a child’s car seat in the vehicle, and officers were continuing to investigate how the child had been secured in it.
