Police remove baby from KC home and investigate two suspicious deaths
Kansas City police investigated two suspicious deaths Friday at a house in the 2000 block of Van Brunt Boulevard and took an apparently unharmed baby to the hospital.
Police were called to the house shortly before 3 p.m. and found a man and woman in their 30s dead inside. The cause of death wasn’t apparent, police said.
The investigation began when employees with the Missouri Department of Social Services arrived at the house for a scheduled visit. After knocking on the door, the employees found no response but heard a baby crying inside. They called police, who found the same lack of response and entered the house for the baby’s welfare, said Capt. Tye Grant, a police spokesman.
Investigators waited for a search warrant before entering the house to look for clues. Following usual procedure, police investigated the case in the same way as a homicide until it might be proved otherwise.
The home was without power, and officers found a generator in the garage. Fire Department officials were called to the house to check the air quality.
Police ask anyone with information to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
