Missing 12-year-old Lafayette County boy drowns in ice-covered lake
A missing 12-year-old Lafayette County boy drowned Monday in an ice-covered lake southwest of Odessa, Mo.
The boy was identified as as Devin Fossett. The Lafayette County coroner pronounced him dead about 3:30 p.m. Monday.
The father of the boy called emergency personnel after discovering his son’s belongings about 1:30 p.m. near the lake near Kite and Newton roads.
The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office, Odessa Fire and Rescue Protection District and Odessa Emergency Medical Services responded to the lake.
Firefighters pulled the boy from the water, but attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.
