Crash takes one life, threatens another in Independence
An early morning crash in Independence left one person dead and another with life-threatening injuries, Independence police said.
About 2 a.m. Saturday, a Chevrolet Trailblazer heading west on U.S. 40 left the blacktop near Fairview Road and partially overturned, according to police. A passenger, ejected in the crash, died at a hospital.
Police said the driver was extracted from the damaged vehicle and taken to a hospital. The incident is under investigation.
