Three convicted in theft of trucks, trailers and cargo

Federal jurors on Friday convicted three Kansas City area men for their roles in a conspiracy to steal trucks, trailers and cargo.

Kenneth Ray Borders, 43, of Kansas City; Jon Dirk Dickerson, 56, of Raytown; and his son, Kyle Wayne Dickerson, 31, of Holden, Mo., were accused of conspiring to steal the material in Missouri, Kansas, Florida, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Nebraska.

Jurors acquitted Reginald Tidwell, 44, for his alleged role in the conspiracy. Jurors could not reach verdicts against Verdie Carr Jr., 54, and the judge declared a mistrial in his case.

Nearly $1 million in property, including five Freightliner trucks and 17 trailers, was taken between 2005 and 2011. The cargo included Nike shoes and thousands of pounds of beef, frozen ribs, frozen chicken and chicken wings, sausages and beer.
