Girl who was subject of Amber Alert is found safe in Texas

An Amber Alert issued in Kansas and Missouri on Tuesday for a 15-year-old Texas girl was canceled Wednesday after she was found safe in Lubbock, Texas.

Officials had thought Nomei Velazquez of Nacogdoches could be in the Kansas City area based on an apparently false cell phone ping.

The Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Department said Nomei was located in a motel room in Lubbock and the man she was with was arrested.
