Conviction in 2011 Olathe killing
A Johnson County jury has found a 32-year-old man guilty of reckless second-degree murder in the 2011 death of a woman in Olathe.
Jurors convicted Derek D. Owens, 32, in the Feb. 18, 2011, killing of 25-year-old Laura Coltrane in the 600 block of Lakehurst Drive.
Owens was also found guilty of rape, aggravated criminal sodomy and four counts of violating a protection order, according to Johnson County prosecutors.
A sentencing date will be scheduled later.
