Mike English is chosen to lead Turn the Page KC

The former president of the National Association of Economic Educators has been named the first executive director of Turn the Page KC.

Mike English, past president and CEO of the Missouri Council on Economic Education, was chosen after a national search to lead Turn the Page KC. The goal of the project, championed by Mayor Sly James, is to get all Kansas City children to reading proficiency by the time they leave third grade.

Turn the Page KC’s board members also announced the appointment of Linda Edwards, a former dean of the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Education, to their board.

Edwards, who is retired from the university, was instrumental in developing and establishing the UMKC Institute for Urban Education.
