Toilet seat – not teenage boys – found smoking in QuikTrip restroom

An off-duty police officer discovered smoke in the men’s room of a Wichita convenience store Monday night — but it was from a toilet seat, not a customer.

The incident was reported at 8:20 p.m. Monday at the QuikTrip at 730 N. Broadway, Lt. Doug Nolte said. When the officer went into the restroom, “he noticed a toilet seat was smoking,” Nolte said.

He doused the seat with water. A cause has not yet been determined, Nolte said.

No suspects have been identified.
