Inmate found dead in cell at Leavenworth penitentiary

An inmate at the U.S. Penitentiary in Leavenworth was found unresponsive in his cell early Saturday morning.

The inmate, Larry Hough, 68, was pronounced dead at 1:45 a.m. The death was an apparent suicide, prison officials said.

Hough had been incarcerated at Leavenworth since December 2012 on drug-related charges. He had a projected release date in August 2015.
