Wrong-way accident leaves one dead, one injured on highway ramp
A passenger was killed late Friday in a car that was driven the wrong way on an exit ramp at Interstate 70 and U.S. 40.
Kansas City police identified the deceased as Karl Silvey, 35, who was in the westbound car that collided with a tractor-trailer truck that was properly exiting eastbound from the highway.
Police said the driver of the car was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The car’s driver was not identified. Alcohol impairment appeared to have contributed to the accident, police said.
Traffic at the location was shut down for about four hours after the accident, which occurred about 11:45 p.m. Friday.
